“...ineffable sense of chic.”
Christopher Kane is one of the fashion world's most exciting designers and he is always striving and searching for new inspiration and ideas. A Scottish fashion designer based in London, Kane has collaborated with the likes of Manolo Blahnik, Versace, and Atelier Swarovski. In 2013, he joined the Kering Group, joining the ranks of Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga.
“Beauty exists in the expired and discarded.”
Kane’s 2016 Autumn/Winter collection, ‘Lost and Found’, explored the ideas of discarded beauty and reused materials. Christopher Kane approached midton for our point-of-sale display service to create more than 100 ‘lost and found’ objects captured in cubes for a breath-taking installation in Selfridges’ Oxford Street store in London. This was a brand tool project taken to an entirely new level and it was Christopher Kane’s first major space within the new ‘Design Studio’.
The physical process of encapsulation – and the challenges that go with it – forged and consolidated our relationship with Christopher Kane. It established a level of experimentation between us and an appreciation for the process. Selfridges' and Christopher Kane's excitement about the project was clear and the opportunity to work with a major fashion brand brought job satisfaction to every one of us here at midton.
