Transforming Waste into Award-Winning Garden Design
When a visionary garden concept for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show needed a material that could combine sustainability, colour, light, and architectural impact, Midton was selected to bring the idea to life using our Remade Brut recycled acrylic panels.
The project originated through a connection made at the Surface Design Show, where Hollaway Studio designers discovered Midton’s innovative recycled acrylic range and recognised its potential for a show-stopping garden structure.
The Brief
Hollaway Studio approached Midton with a concept for a framed garden pavilion structure to be showcased at Chelsea Flower Show.
The initial request was for:
- Bespoke Brut textured acrylic panels
- Approximately 64 individual infill panels in Multiple shapes and dimensions
- Colours to be developed collaboratively
- Panels that would complement surrounding planting and floral palettes
- A material with strong sustainability credentials
The structure required every panel to feel individual while still working harmoniously as a complete installation.
The goal was to ensure the translucent panels would interact beautifully with sunlight while complementing the planting scheme and bronze-toned structural frame.
Midton Solution: Remade Brut
Midton proposed panels from the Remade Brut collection, a material created using recycled acrylic offcuts, chipped and recast into richly textured sheets with unique internal character. Each panel offered:
- Recycled content from production waste streams
- Bespoke pigmentation and tinting
- Light diffusion and texture
- Durable weather-resistant cast acrylic performance
- One-of-a-kind visual character in every sheet
The result was a material perfectly suited to Chelsea Flower Show: sustainable, artistic, and technically robust.

The Finished Result
Installed at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the pavilion became a striking centrepiece.
As sunlight moved throughout the day, the translucent coloured panels created changing reflections, warmth, and depth. The blend of recycled material, architecture, and planting created a calm immersive space for visitors.
The project demonstrated how sustainable materials can move beyond specification sheets and become emotionally engaging design features. structural frame.
